1. **Sparks of Weight-Space Programming** (MIT CSAIL, Science): MIT researchers report that GPT-6 Astra can read network weights to name the trained task, and edit 0.016% of Qwen3.5-0.8B's weights to lift MATH-500 from 7.9% to 48.1% with no training loop. 2. **Build World Models for Interactive Simulation with NVIDIA Cosmos** (NVIDIA, Robotics): Cosmos Framework adds agent skills and recipes for training, RL and inference, with Cosmos 3 Nano simulation checkpoints for driving, robot and surgical scenarios, and NIM serving at roughly 2 to 3x speedups on H200. 4. **How Olmo 3 earned the highest ethical rating from Nextcloud** (Ai2, Open weights): Nextcloud rated Olmo 3 green, its top Ethical AI tier, which requires open training and inference software, a self-hostable model and public training data. [Primary source](https://allenai.org/blog/nextcloud)

Four things I could open and read today: a research post from MIT about editing model weights with an LLM, an NVIDIA framework update for world models, a feature post from Suno, and an adoption story for Ai2's Olmo 3. None of the numbers below are mine.

## An LLM that reads and writes weights

Rikiya Takehi, Jayden Teoh, Alex Zhang and Omar Khattab at MIT CSAIL published "Sparks of Weight-Space Programming". The claim is that GPT-6 Astra, used in plain natural language, can read raw network weights and write new ones, with no optimizer and no training loop.

The first experiments are small. Astra was given the 17,253 weights of an MLP trained with PPO and asked which game it played, without being shown the options. It named the right game for all four networks. In a second test it worked out what three small diffusion models generate, with no forward passes allowed.

The headline is the Qwen3.5-0.8B edit. Astra spotted a weight problem behind reasoning loops that the Qwen model card itself warns about, and changed 0.016% of the weights. With the same sampling settings, MATH-500 went from 7.9% to 48.1%, and IFEval rose about threefold. The authors describe all of it as very early results. I would want an independent group to reproduce the Qwen edit before I leaned on it, but it is a clear, checkable claim, which I like.

## Cosmos Framework gets agent skills

NVIDIA's post covers Cosmos Framework, an open and modular toolset for world model training, optimization and inference. It now ships agent skills, loaded from a skills folder, so a coding agent can run setup, post-training and evaluation tasks against a bounded prompt. Supported models extend past Cosmos 3 to Alpamayo, GR00T, Qwen and pi0.5.

On the training side it lists LoRA and full fine-tuning, plus DPO, GRPO, PPO, on-policy distillation and DiffusionNFT. Cosmos 3 Nano simulation recipes generate synchronized camera and LiDAR observations for driving, robot and surgical scenarios from released checkpoints. For serving, NVIDIA reports roughly 2 to 3x speedups on H200 GPUs from NIM microservices, and says Cosmos3-Nano generation needs 58 GiB in BF16 or 44 GiB in FP8 with offloading.

## Suno puts an assistant in the DAW

Suno introduced Chat inside Suno Studio. The examples are practical: rename every track from its clip name, lower all tracks by 3 dB, add Compressor and EQ to every track, set a high-pass filter at 82 Hz on each EQ. Suno says Studio is included with every Premier subscription. It is a small feature, and it is the right kind of small, since it removes chores.

## Olmo 3 and Nextcloud

Ai2 says Nextcloud gave Olmo 3 its highest Ethical AI rating, green. The bar is open training and inference software, a model users can self-host and public training data. Nextcloud bundles Olmo 3 with its local llm2 backend for text generation and topic extraction on hardware an organization controls.

## What I'd watch next

Whether anyone outside MIT reproduces the Qwen3.5-0.8B edit, and which of the Cosmos 3 Nano checkpoints people actually fine-tune with the new skills.

## My take

The Astra result is the one I keep rereading, mainly because the authors call it very early and the number is large enough to deserve a replication. I read all four pages and ran none of it. The Cosmos post is the most practical of the set, since it treats agent skills as a normal way to ship a framework.
